High School Screenings
This project goes a step further to add to the film studies subject taught in high schools. It’s targeted to grades 10-12 girl pupils where we introduce filmmaking as a possible career choice by matching their subjects and talents to the different capacities of the filmmaking process. WoS organises busses to collect pupils from two different high schools (township school and a private/model C) they are given a lecture on how the industry works, get to watch a film and converse with the filmmaker whose film is showing. This aims to instil culture of local cinema appreciation, to be a platform for education through the subject matter of the films and the cross-cultural exchange amongst the different schools (social cohesion).
